WELCOME

Hi

ABC Opens In Wellington

Over the past 18 months we have had numerous requests from both vendors and purchasers looking for a specialist business broking company to facilitate transactions in the Wellington region. As a result, our new Wellington branch (located at Number One Queens Wharf) opens this month, with a team of dedicated professional business brokers servicing the lower North Island through to New Plymouth, Taupo and Hawkes Bay. This office, added to our Auckland and Christchurch branches, completes our National network.

If you are thinking of buying or selling a business in this area you are welcome to contact us on 04 499 1538.

Regards,

Steve Smith AREINZ

AWARD WINNING CHRISTCHURCH WINE BAR

This would have to be one of the best wine bars in Christchurch, if not the whole country.

Chic, contemporary styling in an historic CBD conversion, cosy fireplace, premium local and international wines – this one‘s got it all. Not surprisingly, it hosts an affluent discerning clientele, from local business people to corporate and foreign tourists. The premises have a 7-day liquor license but the current short trading hours leave plenty of potential for growth by developing day time cafe or lunch trade.

Fully staffed including a full-time manager, the financial returns are extremely attractive, all in a package that requires little owner’s input yet with ample opportunity to add value.

The premises also include four self-contained apartments on the second floor. These provide easy regular income but they are equally suited for redevelopment into quality boutique accommodation for increased revenue.

This is a rare combination of lifestyle and profitability in the hospitality sector.

BUSINESS SELLING TIPS

Marketing To Achieve A Premium Sale Price

Beware the broker who says I can sell your business to my existing database!

Is this in your best interests? Probably not.

A recent case highlighted the importance of a well rounded marketing campaign.

Business “A” was listed for sale and a marketing strategy put in place. Sixty-plus qualified purchasers on our database were informed of the opportunity and simultaneously a media campaign was launched. The results were outstanding. The media campaign resulted in over 100 enquiries, of which 33 people signed confidentiality agreements and progressed to an information memorandum. The approach to the existing database produced several interested parties, but all valued the business at between $300,000 & $400,000 below asking price. Meanwhile, the media campaign produced three offers, two at the full asking price and the third not far behind.

Had marketing not been entertained and the database used exclusively, the vendor may have been disadvantaged by as much as $300,000.

Marketing your business to achieve a premium price can be done confidentially and will certainly provide the assurance that the price you receive is a true reflection of the current market value.
